Fostering Effective Collaborative Projects Learning Experience

The Foster Effective Collaborative Projects Learning Experience is built around your own work — rather than generic training, the day uses practice-based activities and Cobeo tools to examine the dynamics shaping your project and identify strategies that might help. You’ll leave with approaches you can apply immediately, and optional extension activities to continue developing your practice afterwards.

Come prepared: participants are asked to bring a collaborative project they’re currently working on or planning. This could be a research collaboration, community partnership, cross-organisational initiative, or any other collaborative endeavour.

Why it matters

Many collaborative projects focus heavily on tasks and timelines, but overlook the foundational dynamics that determine whether partnerships thrive or struggle. This workshop creates dedicated space to examine what’s really going on beneath the surface — and to develop practical strategies for navigating it.

What you’ll explore

The workshop is structured around several key dynamics of collaboration — such as Value, Positions, Risks, and Activators — using Cobeo tools and approaches. Working directly on your own project, you will:

  • Map stakeholders and explore how to create value for them, using custom canvases and interactive activities
  • Explore how key dynamics are shaping your project and develop insights for navigating them more effectively
  • Develop greater clarity about what’s working and what needs attention
  • Build lasting skills and frameworks for future collaborative work
  • Connect with peers navigating similar complexities across diverse sectors and contexts

Who is this for?

This workshop is for anyone who wants to move beyond surface-level collaboration — project leaders, team members, partnership coordinators, researchers, and practitioners across any sector or setting. If you’re working on something collaborative and want to set it up for success, this workshop is for you.

Participants can join individually or come as part of a collaborative team or project group — working through the workshop together can be a powerful way to build shared understanding and alignment.

We welcome mixed cohorts, and the diversity of projects and perspectives in the room enriches the learning for everyone.
