Privacy Policy

This website is run by Cobeo, a project within the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences at The Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia. We follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the ANU Privacy Policy. 

By using this site, you agree that we may collect and use your information as described here and in the ANU Privacy Policy. 

 

What we collect 

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect: 

  • Your name, email address and (if you choose) your organisation or role. 
  • Shipping and transaction details when you buy something, handled through ANU’s secure payment systems. 
  • The content of messages and enquiries you send us. 
  • Basic website usage data (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) to help us improve the site. 

Please avoid including sensitive personal information (such as health details) in website forms unless we specifically ask for it. 

 

How we use your information 

We use the information we collect to: 

  • Respond to your enquiries and requests 
  • Send you updates about our workshops, tools and activities (if you sign up) 
  • Process and fulfil purchases made via ANU ecommerce systems 
  • Maintain and improve this website 
  • Meet ANU’s legal and reporting requirements.

Payments and thirdparty services 

We do not collect or store your full payment card details on this website. When you make a purchase, you are redirected to ANUmanaged payment systems (such as Xetta or similar platforms) that handle your payment securely. 

We also use a small number of external services: 

  • Vimeo to host some videos. 

These services may collect or process your information in line with their own privacy policies as well as ANU’s. 

 

Our research and other activities 

Cobeo also runs workshops, evaluation and research activities that may involve additional data collection. Those activities are covered by specific information sheets, consent forms, research ethics approvals and the ANU Privacy Policy. 

Information you provide on this website is generally used for communication, engagement and transactions, and is not automatically included in research datasets. 

 

Sharing, security and retention 

We may share your information with: 

  • Relevant ANU staff 
  • ANU-approved service providers (for web, email, payment and data hosting) 
  • Government agencies or regulators where required or authorised by law. 

We do not sell your personal information.
