In February 2025, Cobeo and Collaborative Cultures facilitated a workshop at Future of Arts, Culture & Technology Symposium (FACT) 2025 hosted by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image exploring how cultural energy—the vital force that drives creative collaboration and sustains cultural infrastructure—can be generated, shared, and preserved.
Drawing on insights from keynote speaker Deb Chachra’s work on energy and infrastructure, we used the metaphor of the cultural energy transition to reimagine how we build fit-for-purpose systems in the arts and cultural sector. This workshop brought together practitioners to explore the deeper, relational layers of cultural infrastructure that fuel collective action and positive change.
This report captures our approach and the insights generated through collaborative activities. It’s a resource for anyone interested in fostering connection, experimentation, and systems change in the arts, culture, and beyond.
